never say die attitude

No one can deny that the most popular basketball team in the Philippines is Ginebra Gin Kings. In fact I am one of its millions of fans. After two years this hard working team grabbed its 8th championship trophy to add to its fame and glory.

The secret of the team is obviously its trade mark as a "never say die team". No one could ever imagine that they can capture the championship from being at the bottom of the standings during the 2008 PBA Fiesta Conference. Starting with 0-5 win-loss status in the league they showed a lot of heart and will to win despite of the many adversities the team had endured. Wounded with a number of players with injuries ( namely Erick Menk, Mark Caguioa, Raffy Reavis, Ronald Tubid, Jayjay Helterbrand and Jundi Valenzuela), and inefficient reinforcements, the team showed a lot of heart to be able to win at all cost.

I was watching that game 7 between Ginebra and Air 21 with full attention hoping that my team will win. At the end I was not disappointed since they won convincingly.

True enough this never say die team brought me and its millions of fans an inspiration in life. The team itself sent a message to us that one should never give up in life no matter how hard are the adversities we are facing. Sometimes we tend to surrender whenever we experience failures but then such failures are not reason for us to give up but instead it should motivate us to work even harder.

Remember that obstacles are not hindrances for one's success but they are stepping stones for us to be more triumphant in whatever endeavor we are in.

Let us not lose hope . Have confidence in ourselves. May the never say die attitude that the Ginebra Ginkings have displayed all throughout these years maybe our battle cry.
